My hair straightens into a Afro,is there any way to make it straighten to without it looking afroish

Hi,I have very thick curly hair that turns into a Afro after a certain point.Recently I straightend it with a flat iron,but when it straightend it ended up just looking like a straight afro.Is there any way that I can make it lay flat so I can do more with it?

first, how much did u pay for your flat iron? it it is under $20 then it is proably cheap. I am sorry to say that. if you really want a flat iron that will keep your hair shiny and straight, then they will get pretty pricy. I just got a flat iron yesterday and i had to pay about $100 for it. I just used it and my hair is wonderful! shiny and very straight. my friend also bought a $50 straightener and her hair is straight too. She has very thick hair. So when it comes to flat irons, to get the best results, you need to spend some money unfortunatly.

if you did spend a lot of money on your flat iron then try making it very hot and when straightening your hair slide it down your hair very, very, slowely. This also works because sometimes when your flat iron is not very hot and you straighten your hair too fast, it doesn't work.
