I'm an african american and as most people know we have very wavy and kinky hair. my hair is about to the middle of my back and I wanted to know what kind of flat iron is good to use when straightening my hair and also what products would be good to use to remove frizz. The goal i'm trying to acheive with my hair is to have it straight smooth and and kind of glossy looking, like aaliyah's hair(if you've seen her hair then you know what i'm talking about). any suggestions?

get it chemically straightened. or you could by those hair relaxer kits at walmart in the hair care aisle. Personally, i wouldn't straighten it. I'd volumize it. Big volume is in this season.

The only ones that work on my hair is the Remington 'wet 2 straight'. A lot of people with what I call 'normal hair' who just want it poker straight don't find them useful, but for kinky, frizzy hair they seem to be brilliant.

I have the same hair type..I use a big round brush and blow dryer followed by a flat iron made by conair, the "infiniti". It REALLY WORKS WELL!! use proclaim products, its a gel used to get rid of frizz, i have been using it lately, and it works perfectly. Get them from sallys beauty shops.

Go to a salon first and have them treat it, this will help you for the future when you do your hair yourself, and then get the same flat iron they are using on your hair. I did this, and i have the salon look everyday w/ also the glossy look.

For dry hair pls try these hot oil massages....they will help in maintaing the natural sheen of your hair and will also condition your hair:

Hot oil massages: Warm 2 tsp. of olive oil and 2 tsp. coconut oil and gently massage every part of the scalp for 10-15 minutes. Rinse a towel in hot water, wipe and wind the hair around the head as it cools. Repeat 2 or 3 times to issue total saturation. After that, shampoo and rinse well. It is good for brittle dry hair.

Hot Caster oil massage: Warm 闄?cup of castor oil, massage into scalp and gently comb it. Bind the hair with hot towel on the head, wait for 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. As it is home made is so good to use for scanty hair.

Clove oil honey massage. Stir well 闄?cup of green olive oil with 1 cup of liquid honey. Shake vigorously. Keep the mixture to settle for a day or two. Massage into the scalp and comb it not touching the scalp. After massaging cover hair with plastic shower cap. Make it air tight to let the heat penetrate, leave like that for 20 to 30 minutes. Then shampoo and rinse well. It is good for dark hair to keep it shining and lustrous.

dear after you have a bath which must be wet. you have to bring all you hair front and roll it .it will straight nicely , dont use chemicals or hot iron it could make it fall and be light.

Well, my hair is all natural/nappy and I can flat iron it bone straight. I would wash my hair then condition it as usual. Apply a bit of olive oil to your hair. You can either blow dry it with a comb attachment or let it air dry in plaits like I do. Afterwards, divide your hair into four sections. Work within the sections using very thin layers of hair at a time using a ceramic plate flat iron. I purchased one from target.com for $14.99 under the 'select brands' label and it's wonderful!
