I straighten my hair, but find that often times there is smoke coming out when I used the straighten

this bad for my hair? I am worried that it may be the cause for my hair to be falling out, which it has been lately....Is there something I can do make it stop? As in, add some sort of product or should I just stop straightening it...?

I straighten my hair, but find that often times there is smoke coming out when I used the straightener...Is?

I have straightener that is meant to be used on wet hair, and dries it at the same time. On mine it is not ruining my hair and it is just steam coming from the steam holes on the straightenere. Here it is:

WET2STRAIGHT 1"

Works very well!

this is definitly damaging your hair. try not straightening it for a while. then go back to maybe once, twice a week. the less yyou do with your hair, the healthier it'll be!

It's not the best thing for your hair, but it's normal to see the smoke/steam coming out. If your hair isn't falling out in clumps it's probably not an issue. I think people lose up to 100 strands of hair a day or something like that. Other than that I would just recommend you keep your hair conditioned so it doesn't dry out and become brittle. Maybe try one of those hair masques.

oh no it's called steam. Steam actually is good for your hair, it moisturizes it and makes it healthy and shiny. Don't worry about it. Your hair may be fallilng out because you straighten a lot, try different hairstyles for a while and see if it stops.

Are you using products on your hair before straightening? If you use too much, you will find that it smokes--a little goes a long way. You may also try lowering the heat setting and making sure your hair is completely dry. I recommend you shampoo %26amp; condition your hair, then apply heat protectant, blow dry completely, then flat iron using small sections. Don't use too much tension as that can cause hair to fall out.
