Anyone permanently straightened their hair?

I'd like to hear from someone who has permanently straighten their hair, does it really look like you've blow dry it straight or flat ironed it after everytime you wash it?

I have oily hair and I wash it everyday...and blow dry it straight or flat iron it everyday. I'm really sick and tired of doing that every single day. And I don't care about the damage it will get from the permanent straightening. I have waivy hair (not curly) by the way.

I have wavy hair too %26amp; I had mine chemically straightened last year. I still had to use a flat iron, but it was way easier to get it nice and straight. When I had really long hair, it looked ok without the flat iron (but not fabulous!). Now I've cut it to just above my shoulders %26amp; I have to iron it every time I wash it. Also, I started to miss my wavy hair though b/c before I could just put mousse it in %26amp; let it be curly if I didn't have time to do it. It was fun to do once, but I'll probably never get it straightened again.

Unless your afrian american, its not going to look good. Ive done this. I had the same situation as you. First off, most straightning perms are for african american girls (which should give you a hint). My hair felt nasty afterwards, It got fried. I know straightning your hair damages it also, but trust me not as much. Im talking from experience. Also, after a really short while, your hair starts getting wavy again. So you have to straighten your even more damaged hair. Perms dont last, especially when your trying to set it straight. So its the same hard work, and you'll just fry your hair.

I have primairly wavy hair and straightened my hair. I wish I didn't because once you do it you have to continue doing it or cut it! You do have to re-do it every 6 to 8 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows because your roots will be curly and the rest will be straight. It should also be done professionally so it can cost from $50 or more depending on where you live. You also need to take care of it, condition it etc. How it will look after you wash it depends on your hair type. African American hair will still need some work like setting it and blow drying it or using a flat iron after it's dry. If you don't have that type of hair you can probably blow dry it dry. Again, like others have said most of the products out there are for African American hair and can be very harsh. However, there are some products for other hair types. I would not recommend it if you don't have that type of hair. In the long run, you are better off just doing what you are doing. That way you have the option of wearing your hair either way. Once you straighten it, your options on what you can do are very limited. Good luck!

I've Had My Hair Chemically Straightened (Relaxed) Many Times. And It's Been Colored And Relaxed At The Same Time. The Process Can Be Very Hard On Your Hair So If You've Never Done It I Would Suggest You Have A Professional Do It. How your Hair Looks After Varies A Lot Depending On It's Condition And How Much Relaxation You Get. I've Over-Relaxed And Gotten Limp Locks That Won't Style And Under-Relaxed And Gotten Straight Ends And Wavy Roots But, When It's Done Correctly Your Hair Is Smooth And Easy To Style Anyway You Want, Straight-As-A-Board Or Soft Flowing Curls Or Anything In-Between. And There's Always The Danger Of Frying Your Hair - I've Done That A Few Times Too, NOT PRETTY, Not Pretty At ALL. Good Luck!
