What steps should I take to straighten my hair??

I own a chi hair straightener, (Some people have told me that its awful, some have told me its great, but I own it so thats the one I'm going to use.) and I would like to know what products I should use and what steps I should take to straighten my thick, curly, medium length hair.

I have tried straightening my hair with the chi once without using any products, and my hair was very straight but it looked quite dry.

I own Sebastion Potion 9 Leave In Conditioner and Matrix Sleek Look Smoothing System Iron Smoother. I bought the iron smoother with my chi because the lady at the store reccomended it. I bought the leave in conditioner at a later date at a different store, and the lady there said that it is good to use with a flat iron and she tried it out with a bit of my hair and at the time it looked nice.

I use Head and Shoulders shampoo and I use dove conditioner.

I'm also wondering if I should use serum gloss when I'm done straightening my hair to make it look shiny.

use the leave in conditioner when ur hair is wet, and before u straighten it, it take out the extra oil, rather than the oil in ur hair.

i use a n oil for my hair when starightning it, the thicker the better.

Just do the straightening in sections... start at the bottom layer and mork your way to the top.

chi has a whole line of hair products, you should really get the heat guard so that your hair doesnt fry, and try one of the shine surums or sprays.

I use a little leave in conditioner after I shower then I usually blow dry my hair to start, not perfectly straight or anything but at least so it gets the idea of being semi-straight. Sometimes I use some serum stuff that is supposed to be a heat protector for straightening your hair (this kind: http://www.texasbeautysupplies.com/ic503... After straightening if your hair looks really dry I'd use a serum gloss stuff, it really is the only thing that makes a difference when your hair looks crispy.

1)take shower and wash hair with conditioner

2)run mousse through hair (it smells really nice and makes hair soft)

3)blow dry hair THROUGHLY

4)pull half of the hair up in clip

5)straighten bottom half

6)then straighten top half
