Has anyone tried the chi hair treatments?

My hair is very curly and frizzy. I've been looking into trying the chi hair straightening treatments.

Before I do it, I was looking for some feedback maybe by people who have had it. Like, do you think it's worth the money? Did it stay straight even when it gets wet? Can you have it done more than once without severely damaging your hair?

Farouk's CHI hair system is only to be used by people who've NEVER had their hair permed, relaxed or dyed. If your hair has been through any of these procedures, the chemicals used in the CHI process will seriously damage it. I know of one person who ended up losing all her hair after it became brittle from the process.

Many salons will tell you that it's safe to have the CHI process done on any type of hair so long as you use a pre-processing system - also sold by Farouk - to improve its condition. This is rarely true. After more than twenty years working with hair, my stylist can tell you the odds are pretty bad. She even took the CHI course with Farouk, and told me it's really not worth it.

After your hair has been straightened - which takes about six hours of processing - you need to keep up the work by using CHI-brand shampoo, conditioner, oils, dryer and straight-iron. (Yes, they actually sell a straight-iron even though the process is supposed to let you forget about them). Also, you'll need a touch-up on your roots as the hair grows.

Finally...yes, it does look straighter than your natural hair, even after letting it air-dry, but as far as I've seen, it DOES NOT look like the hair on the commercials or ads.
