So I think my hair is damaged from straighteners, what conditioner is the best to use?????????

Please look at my other questions about hair straightening and see if you can help. But most answers have said that my hair is being damaged and if a good conditioner would help please tell me what ones you suggest I use. I'm getting really stressed out and worrried that I've damaged my hair!!

So I think my hair is damaged from straighteners, what conditioner is the best to use?????????

Hi Hannah

I have used straighteners for 3 years+ and according to my hairdresser my hair is in good condition.

Heres what I do:

Condition my hair every time I wash. I use Kerastase shampoo and conditioner.

When straightening (and this is really important!) run the straighteners through the hair quickly and repeatedly, do not hold them on the hair in one place.

Using a hot style constructor can help.

Put the hairdryer on a cool setting and blast through the hair at the end of the styling.

Get hair trimmed regularly so split ends don't have a chance.

I use GHD's. Check out their website for tips.

If your hair is damaged, you may need to have it cut. You didn't mention if you bleach or dye your hair. This may have an impact on the condition.

Wee pet, don't worry, a good hairdresser should be able to sort things out for you.

cut it and stop using the straighteners.

go get like an inch of your hair cut off to get rid of any split ends, then use pantene conditioner for damaged hair. When applying it let it sit in your hair for 3-5 minuites. Put extra at the ends.

I've had exactly the same problem - try using Charles Worthington Moisture-Seal (in square yellow bottle), it's fantastic and not too strong (i.e. will soften and heal your hair without grease)

Get an inch or 2 cut off to get rid of fried ends and then use Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Deep Conditionar. It can cure up to 2 yrs of damage in just a month.

you really need to get your hair cut and stop using the straightners as much give your hair a chance no amount of conditioner will repair your damaged hair

I use ghd straigheners every day and had my hair cut last week, my hairdresser told me that the underneath was so damaged by them that he had to cut it shorter than the rest of my hair just to get all the split/damaged ends off, conditioner isnt going to help, have to get all the damaged bits cut off and stop using them or dramatically cut down %26amp; always use a good protector, the one by Toni %26amp; Guy is good but won't stop the damage!

try using heat protecting syrum before you use the straighteners.

first off get a hair cut because if you don't then the split ends will move further up your hair, damaging it even more and then you'll have to cut of even more. Secondly try a special conditioner such as frizz-ease's straightening one which is designed specifically for use with hair straighteners so it will protct your hair. Also use a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. If you can stay off the hair straighteners for a while too just to let your hair recover.

1. Get to the hairdresser %26amp; get your ends cut and an intensive contioning treatment

2. when straightening your hair in future use a heat protection spray (toni %26amp; guys is fab!)

3. Use an intesive moisturising conditioner on your hair once/twice a week (I use Nicky Clarke, and V05 hot oil treatments)

4. Dont brush your hair too hard!

5. Use a strenghtening shampoo %26amp; conditioner, fructis do a fab one! i think its called Strength and Shine

6. think of your hair like you do your skin, if your skin was cracked and really dry, you wouldnt leave it like that and carry on would you?! Look after your hair and straightening shouldnt be a problem, i've been straighetneing mine for about 4 years now and my hair is always gloss and super straight purely because i look after it!

Dont stress out, treat it to a big fat pile of intensive conditioner and maybe give up the straightening for a day or two (sorry! have it tousled or something, scrunch some mouse in your hair twist your hair up in a bun, let it dry naturally, after about an hour or two take it out run your fingers through it spritz lightly with hairspray and ta-dah! beautiful tousled hair)

Better to have a few bad hair days than have your hair fall out!!

superdrug do good hair conditioning treatments and herbal essences have good conditioners look out for one that says for dry damaged hair and ones for damaged hair by straighteners you should always use a heat protective spray kertase (i don't know how to spell it) have this thing for people addicted to using straighteners etc. why don't you get you hair permanently straightened that way you aren't getting it done every day.

I find the best thing for heat or colour damaged hair is something called the Australian 3-minute Restorative Conditioner. It comes in a big bottle or little sachets for single use. Try a sachet first - wash your hair as normal and use this as a conditioner. It says to leave for 3 minutes and then rinse. I usually leave it on for about 5-6 minutes. It really works wonders!! (Boots, Superdrug and Sainsburys usually sell it.)
