How do you get your hair permanently straightened?

Ok, I have somewhat curly hair and it really does limit my hairstyle choices, and in one of my questions an answerer said to get it permanently straightened if I want a rocker haircut, so what is the process of getting your hair permanently straightened? If I've already dyed it several times will it make a difference?

And also where can I get it done and about how much would it cost?

perm

Get a chinese straight or a relaxer. Depending on whether your hair is damaged or not, they will tell you what way to go.

Go to your designated salon and ask them about their perms that they offer. Ask for the one that straightens your hair permanently and they'll go through the straightening process within a couple hours (it takes a looong time). It's expensive though so bring lots of cash!

u should get a perm....it cost about 50 dollars at the salon.

You can buy something over the counter at a beauty supply place, and usually it's around or under $30 or so. There is also a "chinese" straightening thing they offer at salons...but it costs HUNDREDS of dollars depending of course on length and hair type etc. I do not recommend it however. My sister had it done and her hair just seemed to break left n' right. Having it done at a salon will be costly and it's just like getting a perm only without the curl. It's not permanent and will only last a few to several months. Why don't you just flat iron it? There are so many products out there now as far as flat irons go and the stuff to put on before you flat iron it, and its not so bad on your hair. I have curly hair and I like to be able to wear it curly one day, and then give it the sexy flat iron the next. It's up to you of course. I just couldn't justify spending $200-500 on doing that to my hair when in about 4 months or so it's back to it's old self again, and of course you got the potential damage aspect of it too. I remember I got extensions. I paid $500. TOTALLY awesome! Uhhh yeah..then 4 months later, I had to pull them out or pay a few hundred more for upkeep. No thanks!

Good luck : )

You can get it done at pretty much any salon. It's not permanent. It wears off and your roots will be curly, so you'll have to get touch ups everytime your hair grows. You have to wait 24 hours before you dye or after you dye, but having it dyed otherwise causes no damage, really. It doesn't cost more than $70, usually. And it lasts about three months, but you'll still have to get it done again. You won't be able to go back to your natural hair. It'll always be a little straight. It's a commitment, after all. I really don't reccomend getting a haircut that only looks good straight, even if you do get it chemically straightened, but as long as you have money to keep it up as often as your hair grows, it should be fine.

The process involves putting a chemical on your hair, letting it set for 15-20 minutes, and washing it out. The chemical straightens your hair. Japanese straightening is totally different, and way more expensive for results that last just as long, so stick to the normal perming.

I am a hairdresser and I have to tell you...with todays cost of living any cost cutting techniques are truely greatful so here is a big one...Get yourself a home perm...put the solution in your hair and comb it through for the recommended amount of time it requires for example if it calls for 20 minutes timing wise then your comb your hair straight down for the whole time called for.

and then follow the directions for the rest!! And yes you can use it on colored hair its very safe to do so!! as long as you havent just colored you hair that day...and remember also that the solution will lighten the color of your hair a bit so mabe you should straighten your hair first then wait a week the color it!!
