What products should I use to straighten my hair?

I recently had my super curly hair blown out at the salon for the first time ever and I loved it. I have a powerful hair dryer and am going to invest in a good ceramic flat iron, but am wondering which products work best. I'm a poor college student, so I don't want to buy a 7oz. bottle at the salon for 30 bucks.

Does anybody have any products they just love that I can pick up at Target? My stylist used a leave in conditioner and straightening balm before blow drying and then a heat defense product before using the flat iron. Anybody have a routine that just works great for them?

Also, I wore it straight for 3 days and it looked great, since it's pretty dry it was never oily and I wanted to go for the fourth day, but I kinda like to wash my hair and I also didn't go for a run, which I normally do every day. Any suggestions for trying to keep my hair looking great, without sacrificing my workout routine? Or maybe the two do not go together?

What products should I use to straighten my hair?

John Frieda's Frizz Ease Serum works really well and is cheap. I use the one that comes in a plastic see through carton. It is small, but you only need a pea size amount for your whole hair depending on the length...and it smells good too.

I also use the shampoo and conditioner. Then I blow dry right out of the shower to lock in the moisture. I straighten my hair with a hot tools straightener and then put on a pea size of the Serum mentioned above, curl the ends of my hair in and thats it. It really helps to use a frizz control line during the summer with the humidity.

You can leave your hair straight two days and wash it after the second day of running....depending on how much you sweat and how you feel. I put my hair up in a loose pony tail when I work out and keep it one more day if I can. A friend of mine used baby powder if her scalp was oily...it works if you rub it in really well, but your hair will smell like it...if you mind. Hope that helps.

What products should I use to straighten my hair?

well, ceramic flat iron and ionic blow dryers are a great start. conair is the best brand to get, they'll last forever and you can pick them up at walmart for less than 20 bucks each. for a product that is great for straightening curly hair i'd go w/john frieda's frizz ease: http://www.johnfrieda.com/products/Frizz...

they have a great daily shampoo and conditioner called straight ahead, great for daily use.

i have super curly long hair as well, and the frizz ease line is great! i can tame my tresses or use the curl around line and get gorgeous volumptuous ringlet curls when i'm in the mood. they also have excellent styling products as well..

and the best thing about these products is you can find them at your local grocery store and they cost about $5 a bottle.

with these products you don't have to worry about keeping your hair away from workouts. because they're cheap enough to be able to use right after your workout. hey i know, i get up at 4:30 am to do my cardio workout and by 6:30 i'm styling my hair, so yeah, you might not keep the style after a workout, but you can reproduce it afterwards.

tip: before and after a workout rub a little cornstarch through your hair, this will suck up the moisture produced. always wear your hair in a high pony tail during workouts to keep hair up and away from sweat running down your neck.

good luck!

What products should I use to straighten my hair?

Personally I have naturally curly hair, I use to always use a fat 2inch curling iron to striaghten my hair and it worked great leaving your hair with body. I just used a straightening iron and fried my hair, so if you use one keep it on the lowest settting until you get used to it. Try john frieda's frizz ease and theres a cream you can put on after you straighten called "secret weapon" A tiny bit goes a long way. Dont straighten all the time... wash and deep condition at least once a week . Between the deep conditioner, frizz ease and cream you'll be walking out of walmart or target for under $15.oo Oh and invest in a heat tamer- like tresemme. As far as working out, they have stretchy headbands to keep your hair off your face and neck and that should help alot. you'll probably need to do touch-ups on your hair every day though if you do workout or if the weather is humid.
