I have really frizzy and wavy hair so I straighten my hair a lot.?

Whenever I straighten my hair it gets a lot of static. Is there anything I can do to help/prevent the static? And is there anything else I can do besides straightening my hair to help with the frizzyness and waves?

I assume you're using a flat iron? Put a smoothing serum on your hair before you straighten it. Matrix Sleek Looks, Biosilk Silk Drops, and Garnier Fructice Smoothing Serum have all worked well for me in the past. Just use a little, though; too much can make your hair greasy.

You could get it chemically treated to straighten it....

Make sure you put in products (gel, mousse) before you blow dry your hair. Also use a flat brush - it makes hair smoother. I'm assuming you are blowdrying it straight and then using a straightener? I highly recommend the CHI straightner - it's amazing and I never have static with it.

try frizz-ease. there is also a pantene one too but i forget the name of it. use a good straightener... the chi which is really expensive but worth it i guess if you dont like your curly/frizzy hair. products sold in the salon are also good, nice to ask someone there too.

before you straighten a strand of hair, put like some kind of frizzfree hair product or something on the hair and then straighten the strand while its still in!

For the static, try a leave-in conditioner like a spray. I don't have to straighten my hair, but it still gets dry and full of static sometimes and spraying a leave-in conditioner helps. Also try using a little more conditioner when you wash it. Using both can help keep it moisturized.

As helping the frizziness, if you don't want to straighten it, there are a lot of products coming out now specifically for frizzy, wavy hair. Try some of them out until you find one that controls your natural hair the way you want it to.

Apply a serum before you straightn it...John Frieda makes a good one.

Conditoning! Try a hot oil treatment before shampooing, and then a leave in conditoner afterwards... and here's my favorite thing to keep those pesky static flyaways after straightening, Extreme Shine. It's orange in a spritz bottle, you can get it at WalMart. But go light or you'll look oily.

As for not straightening... still conditoning is major. Hot oil treatment before washing hair, a good conditoner durring, a leave in conditoner after shower and then a good mousse, like Springing Curls Mousse by L楹揙real, also available at WalMart.

1. Minus the straightening all together (or not as much as you do at the moment). Wavy is in this season.

2. You can combat the frizz without straighteners, which can make it static (as you described). John Frieda is really good and cheap such as Spotlight Sleek and Shine detangler. This is amazing stuff and makes it really smooth but doesn't weigh it down either.

3. If you use a natural material bristle brush instread of using a plastic man made one that helps with reducing static.

Good luck!

I have the same kind of hair. I use Garnier Fructis. Its the best stuff. I put some of the sleek and smooth serum on.its calledweightless anit-frizz serum. I put 2 pumps on my hand and run my hands thru my hair then I blowdry it with a BIG round brush. For a little volume.I run my fingers thru it to finish drying it. Finish with a little hairspay to keep the static away. Any kind of serum is going to help with the static and frizz. Remember to only use a LITTLE BIT until u find out how much is enough for your hair. Good luck!!

Use "none of your frizness" shampoo and conditioner by Herbal Essences. It really works! You could also try to use the product that goes with it to prevent frizz. Any other non-frizzy shampoos and conditioners will work, too! Try to let your hair air dry before you straighten it if you can; that way it won't be damaged by the blow dryer, too. Also, before you leave the house, rub a dryer sheet over your hair. It gets rid of flyaways and more static. Another good solution would be to rub just a small bit of lotion through your hair - it will make hair shiny (without looking greasy) and keep it tame. Good luck!

Use a good conditioner / leave in conditioner. Instead of fighting your waves, get a good haircut that will accentuate and show off your waves.

Using too much hair products and straightening can damager hair and frizz often means damaged hair. Give your hair a break from all the work on them. Pamper your hair with a fortifying treatment. And do not wash hair every day - do it 2-3 times a week at the most.

You have my sympathy cause my hair is really wavy and I have to straighten it all the time and I get the static thing too. Once you have finished straightening just spray your hairbrush, but not loads, with hairspray and gently brush through your hair. It's like magic!

The other thing I wanted to tell you about is my mam bought an ionic hairbrush from Autograph in M%26amp;S and it has the same effect. It's brilliant, no fly away hair at all.

Good luck

when you are done doing your hair go over it with a Bounce clothes dryer sheet(or any brand for that matter) it really helps break up the static, it is also a good idea to keep one in your purse for thouch ups whenever you feel the need for one. i'm not sure really what to do about the frizzy waves, but might i suggest embrasing them from time to time. get a good product for holding curls and waves, it should keep them looking nice all day and also reduce the frizziness! Good Luck!

There is a product by Aussie. It is in a little dark purple pump bottle. I cant remember the exact name though it's something like 24/7 frizz control. You just use one squirt when you get out of the shower while your hair is still wet.(Towel dried) Also you can use Sunsilk shampoo %26amp; conditioner. Use the pink bottle for hydration. It's fantastic. Styling tip: Try buying a big round brush and blowdry your hair using that. It takes a little getting used to but it's well worth it.

Sounds like you have a moisture imbalance. Get two conditioners: Nexxus Humectress Conditioner, and Nexxus Ensure Conditioner. Use the Humectress 5 times a week and the Ensure 2 times a week. Your static will go away. Also, make sure you use a thermal protector when straightening. If your hair is frizzy, get the Nexxus Veneer Shine Drops. They eliminate frizz and have a humidity block.

The absolute best is a product called Silk Drops from FX Special Effects. You can get it at any Walgreens, CVS, etc. You'll love it!
