Has anyone had their hair straightened here? Did it work and how long did it last?

I've found my hair soon gets curly again no matter what I do to it. I'd like it straighter, but I find electric straighteners don't last more than a few hours. Anyone found something that lasts longer?

Whatever you do don't get it chemically straightened. All that does is dry out your hair and then you have a whole other problem on your hands.

Sounds to me like you need a professional type of flat iron. Chi is probably the best but costly at the same time. Try going to a Beauty Supply store. They generally sell good flat irons a bit cheapier. Also, there is a straightening spray that Regis Hair Salon makes that contains a starch. It helps to not only straighten your hair but keep it straight. When you've finished straightening your hair blast it with cool air from a hair dryer. This will help to set your style. Add some shine cream and a bit of hairspray and you should be good to go.

Getting your hair straightened is the same process as a perm only you are straightening it instead of adding curl. It works really great but when it grows out it can be really funky, plus its super damaging.

go to the salon and they can use a special shampoo that will keep it straight for like 2 months

There's a product called Silking that works sooo well. I almost died when I couldn't find it at any of my local stores but now I buy it online at www.mysilking .com try it. good luck

Have you been using cheaper Con Air straighteners, or top of the line deals?

I suggest you use a ceramic-plated straightener, like the Chi. It gives better results and doesn't damage your hair as much as metal-plated straighteners.

Any type of straightener will give you results usually until you go into EXTREME humidty or if you get it wet/damp.

If you're looking into permanent straightening, they have a techinque called Japanese Hair Straightening. Basically, they use different products and heat onto your hair to change it's structure and make it go straight. It's sort of like a curly perm, but the opposite. Everybody I've heard from that's had it done raves about how straight and silky their hair is. It can run kind of expensive and you want to make sure you absolutely want it done and you get it done by a liscenced professional. Do your research - there's tons of articles on Google about it.

Well it really depends on your hair type, some people use Revlon and Conair work best for them, and some people buy the expensive ones like GHD, Chi or Sedu. Try buying another hair straightener, a heat activated shampoo conditioner and spray, maybe that'll help your hair from curling. The revlon 1 inch ceramic hair straightener works for my hair, and it's super kinky and wavy. If no cheap ones work for you, buy an expensive one or leave your curls :)
