Does anyone one know the process for this and how it will affect my hair. ( i am hispanic)
I have curly hair and I am considering having my hair straightened or relaxed.?
I don't think you should get your hair straightened or relaxed. The chemicals they use to do that interfered with the sulfide bonds of your hair, which makes it curly. After a while, the chemicals that are used damages your hair internally-- hence why some people end up with hair that is dry, brittle, and when it's really bad, starts to break off, smells like it's burnt, and even bursts from the inside.
The inner portion of your hair contains water and protein. When you damage or heat your hair enough, the water boils inside and "cooks" the protein, causing the breakage, etc.
Maybe instead of resorting to such damaging tactics, find out how to manage your hair in a more efficient and attractive manner?
Go to the website www.naturallycurly.com and also, try reading the book "Curly Girl."
Hope this helps and don't kill your curls!

My hair is wavy, not super curly - I had the "Japanese hair straightening" done a few months back. It's very expensive (here in Manhattan, about $500) and takes about 3 hours. I hated it at first, to be honest, bc it was such a deviation from my natural hair, but now, absolutely love it. I don't have to blow dry my hair at all, just step out of the shower and can walk around, etc. - stays completely straight and lovely. Now I can't live without it - you do have to get it done whenever your hair grows out too much ( I got mine 8 months ago and haven't had to do it again yet, but I guess it depends on how curly your hair is), but I love it. Plus, you shouldn't double-process your hair with color when you have it (says my straightener-girl) - but I would absolutely do it again. Make sure you realize, though - its very very straight - much straighter than mine was when I straightened it myself - esp in the beginning, seems limp and very straight. Keep that in mind - I think that's why I hated it so much when I first did it.

u don't have to chemically treat curly hair anymore. just get a product called the maxiglide. it's a straightening plate w/ pins througout. go to amazon.com, ulta.com, or maxiusbeauty.tv to order one.
