Is there any way to straighten your hair without damaging it alot?

I have been blowdrying and straightening my hair for about 2 years now. Not really that much! But it keeps getting harder and harder to get it to be straight! Now my hair has the WORST broken ends EVER. No joke its bad! its not everywhere just certain spots). It seems the only way to fix it would be cutting it all off, and that is the last thing in the world im doing. Does anyone know a way to get straight hair with less damage? Or anything that can get rid of my current dammage?

Products you will need:

1. Permanent Straightener

2. Straightening Gel

3. Thermal Spray

4. Flat Iron

5. Blow Dryer (at least 1875 Watts)

6. A good shampoo and conditioner

1. If you have a Sally Beauty Supply nearby, purchase "Curl Remover", the brand is One n Only. It's a permanent straightener. It's not harsh and they will sell that particular one to anybody, you don't have to be licensed. I use it and it don't fry my hair. They have 3 different formulas, one is normal, one is for if you have color in it and one is for if you have highlights. Make sure you get the right one. It's about $8.00.

2. Also, in their generic line, pick up some "Straightening Gel: Compare to Paul Mitchell Straight Works". It's in a black and white tube. It's about $6.00 and lasts a long time.

3. Pick up some Thermal Spray, it's a must have if you're going to use a flat iron. You will need it to protect your ends.

I don't recommend getting Ion: Heat Protection from Sally Beauty, it's too greasy. They may have something else there. I use the Matrix Sleek Look and I think it's the best. You can get it at Wal-Mart's Smart Style the cheapest, it's about $12.00. They have an off brand version of it at Sally Beauty called Slickline Thermal Iron Smoother, about $7.00. I've never tried it but for a cheaper product, I would say it would be the best you can get.

4. The best flat iron to get is the Paul Mitchell one. It's black and green and will run you about $130.00. It goes to 400 degrees and won't fry your hair as long as you're using thermal spray. If you can't afford it, Sally Beauty has a ceramic one in their generic line that compares to CHI. It's about $50.00 and heats up to 410 degrees. If you have to go with a Wal-Mart one, get a ceramic one. I don't care for Conair products, so I would recommend a Revlon or a Remington.

6. With shampoo and conditioner, you get what you pay for. Stay away from anything that is not sold in a salon and be careful what you buy at Sally Beauty. The only thing I will use at Sally Beauty is Park Avenue SOFT by Naturelle, which is generic for Redken All Soft. I like Matrix Sleek Look and Redken All Soft the best. They can be purchased at a hair salon or the Smart Style at Wal Mart. Matrix is on sale frequently 2 liters for $24.

When you can find a sale like that, you really come out cheaper in the long run when you can get it that way than buying $3 - $5 products because you don't have to use near as much of it and you're getting a larger quantity at a better price.

What to do with these products:

Follow the instructions precisely on the permanent straightener. Repeat every 6 weeks.

Use your shampoo and conditioner, try not to wash your hair everyday. If you smoke like I do, you really have no choice. It's better not to.

When you do wash, put a nickel size amount of the straightening gel in your hair and dry it. Don't brush it while you dry it, only use your finger tips. Brushing it will break it.

After it's dry, it should only need the least bit of straightening with the iron. Spray in the thermal spray, ensuring that you get the roots good, that's the most important part and run the iron through it. You will have to keep adjusting the temp. at first to find what suits you the most.

you could try shampoos that say they fix damage.. im not sure if they really work. and if you stick to blow drying your hair its a lot better then straightening it. the only way you will ever be able to get rid of your broken ends is if you (sadly) cut it, and learn to style your hair naturally.

i use a straightening balm from victorias secret. its a non greasy gel that stays in the hair and keeps it straight, you put it on right after you get out of the shower. you dont have to blow dry it, but you do get better results that way.

also try a straigthener that is more ceramic than it is metal...its a lot easier on your hair. apply a heat protection spary to your ends before straightening

as for getting rid of current damage--regular trims, a new shampoo and conditioner especially designed for damaged hair, and deep conditioning every other night.

the thing that i love the most in the WHOLE world for my hair is CHI silk serum...slightly expensive(about $13.00 for the smallest bottle), but it smells so good and it makes my hair silky and soft.

plus you just need a good,deep conditioner...probably a leave-in. vo5 oil treatments help too.

after you take a bath, dry your hair while combing it using an electric fan.

do not put any oil into hair, that can makes hair curly and freaky.

always use conditioner after shampoo to keep your hair mild, shiny and manageable.

hope that can help.

You need to start getting regular trims, every 6-8 weeks, sometimes as many as 10. Try a ceramic iron, a CHI is the best! Also, start using a thermal protector, the best one is 44 Iron Guard by CHI. Spray on your hair, then straighten. Finish off with Silk Infusion by CHI which has vitamins and gets rid of flyaways. I can email you a coupon for 20% off these at a JcPenney Salon, just email me if you want it.

Oh yeah, and dump all your shampoos/conditioners that are from the drugstores, they are loaded with alcohol and dry your hair out. Try the CHI shampoo and conditioner, they work great!

only way to rid damage is wack it off and let your healthy hair grow and stop frying it. sometimes if u dry your hair on its own...if u have time, twist it and bobbi pin it up in the back and the sides above your ears, when arrive at work, or when dry, take the pins out...and never use a curling iron on wet hair

Doves Revitalising Care Shampoo and Conditioner is great for damaged hair. Then after washing your hair you should let it dry naturally because you shouldn't blow dry your hair more than 3 times a week. If you do before you blow dry it use paul Mitchells Seal and Shine which you should also use before you straighten your hair. Or any other heat protector spray.

You've clearly fried your hair with all the blowdrying and straightening. You should have used thermal sprays and serums as well as protein rich treatments if you do this so frequently.

It is possible to straighten hair alot without damaging it permanently, you just need to take care of it.

Today, this minute, stop doing anything to your hair. Just let it rest until you go to a hair salon where they can just trim the ends so there is less strain and give you in in-salon treatment to really condition it.

For at least two months you need to leave your hair alone!

If you really love your hair straight, look into chemical hair straightening, but only once your hair has a bit of strength back. Good luck!

Use product in it before. That way it will burn the product before it does your hair.
